EMDR Therapy for Women in Florida
For the woman who has done the work, gained the insight, and is still waiting for something to actually shift.
Virtual sessions available statewide across Florida
Does This Sound Like You?
You have built a life that by most measures looks like success.
You are capable. You show up. You hold things together for the people around you. And privately, something is still not right.
The anxiety that should have resolved by now has not. The patterns you fully understand keep repeating anyway. You have done therapy before, gained real insight, and still find yourself wondering why nothing has actually changed underneath.
You are not looking for more coping strategies.
You are looking for something that finally reaches the root.
If any of this sounds familiar, you are in the right place.
What Get’s in the Way
Many of the women I work with come in carrying some version of the same experience:
You understand your patterns but cannot stop living them
You feel anxious even when your life looks good on the outside
You hold everyone else together while quietly running on empty
You have tried therapy before and still feel stuck in the same cycles
Rest feels uncomfortable, receiving feels hard, and peace feels out of reach
You know what you believe but cannot seem to feel it in your body
You are done with coping strategies and ready for lasting change
You are not broken. And you are not the exception to healing.
What you need is an approach that reaches where the patterns actually live — not just the thoughts, but the nervous system underneath them.
Sarah Harris, LCSW | EMDR Therapist in Florida
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and EMDR therapist working with women across Florida through virtual therapy and virtual EMDR intensives.
I have spent years sitting across from women who are capable, accomplished, and privately exhausted by the gap between how their lives look and how they actually feel. Women who have done the work, gained the insight, and are still waiting for something to actually shift.
I know that experience from both sides of the room.
What I have come to understand, through years of clinical work and my own healing, is that real change does not happen through insight alone. It happens when healing reaches the places that insight cannot touch — the nervous system, the emotional memory, the deeply held beliefs that run underneath everything else. That is why EMDR is the foundation of my work.
For women whose faith is central to who they are, I also offer Christian counseling that integrates belief and healing rather than treating them as separate things. Your faith is not something to set aside when you walk into therapy. It is part of how you understand yourself and what healing means to you. It belongs in the room.
If you are ready for something that actually moves the needle, I would love to connect.
Ways We Can Work Together
-
EMDR Therapy
EMDR is the foundation of my work. It is a clinically researched therapy that helps the brain reprocess painful memories and experiences so they stop driving your present-day responses. If you have tried talk therapy and found that understanding your patterns has not been enough to change them, EMDR reaches what words alone cannot.
-
Virtual EMDR Intensives
For women who are ready to go deeper and move faster, EMDR intensives offer extended, focused sessions that create a quality of momentum weekly therapy rarely can. Instead of one hour per week, we work in sustained blocks of time specifically designed for deep processing. Many women experience more meaningful movement in one intensive than in months of weekly sessions.
-
Christian Counseling
For women whose Christian faith is central to how they understand themselves and what healing means, I offer therapy that honors that fully. We do not set your faith aside during the work. We bring it with us. Healing and faith are not separate journeys.
-
Trauma Therapy
Trauma is not always a single dramatic event. For many women it is the accumulation of experiences that taught them they were not safe, not enough, or not allowed to take up space. I work with the full range of trauma, from acute experiences to the quieter relational wounds that are harder to name but just as real.
-
Anxiety Therapy
Anxiety in high-achieving women rarely looks like falling apart. It looks like holding everything together while never fully exhaling. If you live with a constant undercurrent of tension, overthinking, perfectionism, or the inability to rest without guilt, this work is designed for exactly that.
-
Somatic Therapy
The body holds what the mind cannot always access. Somatic approaches work alongside EMDR to help the nervous system complete what it has been carrying, addressing anxiety, tension, and dysregulation at the level where they actually live.

Yes. All sessions are conducted virtually, which means you can access therapy from anywhere in Florida. You do not need to travel or sit in a waiting room. You can be in your home, your car, wherever you feel most settled and comfortable. Virtual therapy is just as effective as in-person sessions and for many women the privacy and comfort of their own space actually supports the work.

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a clinically researched therapy that helps the brain reprocess painful memories and experiences so they stop driving your present-day responses. Unlike talk therapy, EMDR works at the level of the nervous system rather than just the conscious mind. This is why it is effective for women who have already done a lot of insight-based therapy and still find themselves stuck in the same patterns.
-
Yes. For women who want their faith to be part of the healing process, I offer therapy that integrates Christian counseling with evidence-based treatment. Your beliefs are not set aside during the work. They come with you. If faith integration is not something you are looking for, therapy is fully effective without it. You do not need to share my faith to work with me.

Weekly sessions provide steady, ongoing support and are a good fit for many women. EMDR intensives are extended sessions, typically three hours or more, designed for women who want to go deeper and move faster than the weekly format allows. Instead of one hour per week with a week of life in between, an intensive gives your nervous system sustained, uninterrupted time to actually move through the work. Many women find that one intensive creates more meaningful movement than months of weekly sessions.

I do not bill insurance directly, and I want to be transparent about why.
Insurance companies determine how therapy is structured — how long sessions run, how many are approved, and what treatment looks like. For most plans that means 45 to 50 minute sessions. That is genuinely not enough time for effective EMDR processing, and structuring the work around those constraints would mean compromising the work itself.
Working outside of insurance means your care is shaped by what you actually need rather than what a system approves.
For weekly sessions I can provide a superbill — a detailed receipt you may submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement. I recommend contacting your insurance company directly to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits. EMDR intensives are self-pay only and are not eligible for reimbursement.
