Christian EMDR Therapy

Christian EMDR Therapy for Women in Florida

Faith-integrated EMDR, online anywhere in Florida, for the woman who believes the truth and still can’t feel it.

Christian EMDR Therapy with Sarah Harris, LCSW

Maybe you have prayed about this for years. You know what Scripture says about fear, about shame, about who you are in Christ. You can say it and you mean it. And still, when something touches the old wound, your body reacts as if none of it were true. Your chest tightens, your thoughts race, and you end up wondering what is wrong with your faith.

Often nothing is wrong with your faith. Painful experiences are stored in the nervous system and in emotional memory, below the level that belief and insight reach. EMDR works at that level. For Christian women, it is not in tension with faith. God designed the brain with a natural capacity to process and heal from what we go through, and EMDR activates that capacity. It works alongside prayer, not in place of it.

I offer Christian EMDR therapy online to women anywhere in Florida. Faith is part of the work only as much as you want it to be.

This might be where you are

If you're reading this, something already resonates.

You're not broken, and you're not too much. You're carrying something real, and it can change.

  • You believe God’s promises in your head, but your body still lives braced for the worst
  • You have prayed, served, and tried to surrender it, and the same pain keeps coming back
  • You feel guilty that you still struggle with anxiety as a Christian
  • You want a therapist who shares your faith, without being preached at
  • You looked for a Christian EMDR therapist near you and found very few

What faith-integrated EMDR looks like

EMDR is a clinical, evidence-based therapy. When you want your faith included, we bring it into the same structure, gently and at your direction.

01

We start with safety and grounding

Before we touch any painful memory, we build ways for your body to settle. For many women that includes a verse, a short prayer, or a sense of God’s presence they can return to when things feel heavy.

02

We reprocess what is stuck

Using bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, audio tones through headphones, or tapping, we work through the memories and beliefs that keep you stuck. You do not have to describe every detail out loud.

03

We notice the lies and anchor to truth

Painful experiences often leave beliefs behind, like “I am too much” or “I have to earn love.” As those beliefs lose their charge, we anchor to the truth you want to hold, in words that are your own.

04

Weekly sessions or an intensive

Some women do best with weekly sessions. Others want more time in one sitting and choose a virtual EMDR intensive, three hours or more of focused work. We decide together what fits your life.

What can change

You don’t have to choose between your faith and good clinical care. If you want them in the same room, that is what this work is for.

Start with a Free Consult
  • What you believe about God and what you feel in your body start to line up
  • Old memories lose their emotional charge
  • Shame and self-criticism get quieter

Common questions

Christian EMDR Therapy, answered

Is EMDR compatible with Christian faith?

Yes. EMDR is a clinical therapy, not a spiritual practice, and it does not ask you to set aside what you believe. Many Christian women find it helps them feel in their body what they already believe in their heart. It works alongside prayer and Scripture, not in place of them.

What does a Christian EMDR session include?

Only what you want. Some women ask to open with prayer, choose a verse to anchor to during processing, or invite God’s presence into a hard memory. Others simply want a therapist who shares their values and prefer to keep sessions clinical. You decide, and you can change your mind.

Do I have to be a Christian to work with you?

No. Women of all beliefs are welcome. If you prefer a purely clinical approach, that is fully respected.

Is there a Christian EMDR therapist near me?

My practice is entirely virtual, so wherever you live in Florida, from Tampa and Orlando to Miami and Jacksonville, sessions happen from home through secure telehealth. Research consistently shows virtual therapy is as effective as in-person therapy for the conditions I treat.

Do you take insurance?

I don’t bill insurance directly. For weekly sessions I provide superbills you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement. EMDR intensives are self-pay only.

How do I get started?
