EMDR Therapy

EMDR Therapy for Women in Florida

For the woman who understands her patterns and is finally ready for something that changes them.

EMDR Therapy with Sarah Harris, LCSW

You have done the work. You have been in therapy before, you can name where your anxiety comes from, and you understand your patterns better than most. And yet the same reactions keep showing up, the racing thoughts at 2 a.m., the tightness in your chest before a hard conversation, the inner critic that never quite goes quiet.

Here is what no one told you: insight and change are not the same thing. Anxiety and trauma do not live in the thinking part of your brain. They live in the nervous system, in emotional memory, in the deeply conditioned responses your brain learned long before you had the words. That is exactly where EMDR works.

This might sound familiar

If you're reading this, something already resonates.

You're not broken, and you're not too much. You're carrying something real, and it can change.

  • You can explain your triggers perfectly, but explaining them never makes them stop
  • You feel anxious or on-edge even when, on paper, everything is fine
  • Old memories still have a grip on how you react today
  • You are tired of managing symptoms and want to actually resolve the root
  • Talk therapy helped you cope, but never quite reached the deeper layer

How EMDR works

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is one of the most researched and effective therapies available for trauma and anxiety, and it does not require you to relive every painful detail or talk endlessly about the past.

01

We activate the brain's natural processing

Using gentle bilateral stimulation, typically guided eye movements, soft audio tones through headphones, or tapping, EMDR engages the same system your brain uses to process experience during REM sleep. Stuck memories get unstuck.

02

We reprocess, not relive

Painful experiences lose their emotional charge. The memory remains, but it stops hijacking your present. You begin to feel in your body what you already knew in your mind: that you are safe now.

03

We work at your pace

Every session is paced to your nervous system's capacity. We build safety and resourcing first, so the deeper work always feels contained and grounded, never overwhelming.

What changes

You do not have to keep white-knuckling your way through. EMDR offers a path to change that reaches the places insight alone cannot touch.

Common questions

EMDR Therapy, answered

Is EMDR therapy available virtually in Florida?

Yes. Sarah provides EMDR entirely through secure telehealth to women across Florida, including Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Jacksonville, and beyond. Research consistently shows virtual EMDR is as effective as in-person work.

Can EMDR help with childhood trauma?

Yes. EMDR is one of the most researched and effective approaches for healing childhood trauma, including experiences you may not have words for.

Do I have to talk about every detail of what happened?

No. EMDR reprocesses memory without requiring you to narrate every detail out loud, which is one reason many women find it gentler than traditional talk therapy.
